Introduction: Jesus is the only person who ever claimed and proved to be the only “Truth, Way and Life”.  According to Jesus’ owe words if we want to know the truth, be on the right spiritual way and have abundant and spiritual life we have to know him as our personal Lord and Saviour.  Jesus said that he did not come for the healthy but for the sick.  He came to save sinners from their sins by dying on the cross in their place. 

I. The Acquirement of Personal Salvation

   a. Recognize you are spiritually lost

   b. Repent of all your sins before God alone

   c. Rely on Christ alone and His crucifixion and resurrection for your personal salvation   

   d. Receive Salvation as a free gift from God alone

   e. Reassure your faith daily through the scriptures, prayer and Christian fellowship

II. The Benefits of Personal Salvation

    a. Supernatural freedom, happiness and peace for living

    b. Spiritual forgiveness, health and purpose for living

    c. Saving faith, hope and power for living

III. The Confusion with Personal Salvation

     a. It is not having a religion about God but a relationship with God

     b. It is a conversion to Christ and not to a church

     c. It is based on the trustworthiness of Christ and not the teachings of Christianity

Conclusion: Personal Salvation in Jesus is not a sentiment or psychological resolution, reformation or rehabilitation but a personal and spiritual rebirth, renewal and reconciliation to God.  Personal Salvation is not based on anything we can do to earn it but on what Jesus has done already by dying on the cross in our place to pay the penalty for our sins.  We simply have to receive God’s free gift of Salvation by faith.  Every human being needs saving from their sins and its penalty of spiritual death or separation from God.  Here is a suggested prayer to receive the gift of personal salvation from God.

“Dear God I realize that I’m a sinner in need salvation.  I believe by faith that Jesus died on the cross in my place to pay the penalty for my sin.  I believe that Jesus rose from the dead so that I could have new life in Him.  I receive Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour right now!  Dear Jesus I believe and receive you into my heart and life to make me the person you created me to be.  Amen”.
