Not a "disabled" ministry but an "inclusion" ministry

The Abilities Ministry is not a "disabled" ministry but an inclusion ministry for the whole community.  Our goal is to maintain a 50% congregational balance between people with and without visible disabilities.

The 3 Ingredients of True Inclusion

1. Diversity- A balanced association with different people
2. Equality- A balanced approach with different people
3. Unity- A blanced affirmation of different people

Everyone is affected by disabilities

According to Health Canada and Statistics Canada everyone will be affected with a disability within their life time.  There are "visible disabilities" which are easily identifiable and diagnosed and than there are "invisible disabilities" which are much easier to hide from diagnosis.  Some "invisible disabilities" which effect all human beings would include, depression, mood or personality disorders, anger management, eating or sleeping disorders, chronic illness or degenerative diseases/sicknesses and normal aging disabilities.

Tearing down walls & building bridges

ACM is tearing down walls of isolation, discrimination and segregation and building
bridges of inclusion, equality and diversity within the entire community and church.

Share the Vision!

We are extending our vision and mandate of inclusion to the entire church and community
through our mobile services and ministries, which include AC presentations, workshops,

bringing people with disabilities to the forefront of Christian worship and ministry.

About Us
Abilities Church Ministry
Our Unique History

The concept of an Abilities Church was inspired by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, the Honorable David C. Onley and evolved from The Mix Community Club in September of 2009. The Abilities Church developed out of the need to give people with disabilities the equal opportunity to participate fully within the church and community. For the first time in our history people with disabilities are being given an equal voice and place of importance within the church as they equally participate in Christian worship and ministry.

In 2011 the Abilities Church Integrated with LivingHope Christian Church and became an official ministry of LivingHope, changing its name to Abilities Ministry Toronto (AMT).  Our worship services operate as an integrated part of the worship services at LivingHope.  There are two departments to the Abilities Ministry; Our Worship Ministry (Abilities Ministry Toronto- A ministry of LivingHope Christian Church) and our Mobile Ministry (AC international- An independent and interdenominational Inclusion ministry supporting churches in becoming equally inclusive with people with disabilities). We exist to integrate people with disabilities into mainstream churches in order to promote an inclusive and healthy worship experience for everyone. The Abilities Mobile Ministry is currently an independent ministry that offers Inclusion events/concerts, workshops, conferences and worship services for the whole church and community. The Bible teaches us that the inclusion of people with disabilities should be a top priority in the church and that the weaker members of the Body are favored by God to worship and minister within His Church.
